In a battle between the Hobgoblin and Spider-Man, an improved version of the Green Goblin’s gas defeats the web-slinger! Only one man can save his life…and he is far from a hero!Peter Parker is at a party in Harry Osborn's house when he learns that Harry is being blackmailed by Hobgoblin. Harry takes Peter along to the club where he is a member and is supposed to meet Hobgoblin. Hobgoblin had also required a few other rich men including Jonah Jameson to meet him in the VIP room. Peter is not allowed into the VIP section because he is not a member. Spider-man takes on Hobgoblin and loses his spider sense when Hobgoblin tosses a special grenade. Spider-man is nearly killed but saved by the Kingpin's intervention.
